Unemployed Hands, Makes For The Devil's Work

I was applying for HEAP yesterday. I was told I might be denied HEAP moneys because I have no income. Isn't that whacked? My lack of money is why I was applying.

I told them that I was collecting unemployment until my benefits ran out after 99 weeks. Still no job, now not even an unemployment check, which could disqualify me for other social services, such as HEAP.

There is a cyber war being waged by the supporters of Wikileaks. I doubt if they have any more information that Al Qaeda has. Heck I probably have more information

I started thinking that there might be more of this activity because of desperate unemployed people with nothing else to do than express their angry and frustration through domestic terrorism. If I had a job I would be working right now or sleeping to get up for work in the morning.

Personally I think the cyber hackers should hack all the banks and help all those unemployed people who's unemployment benefits ran out, zeroing everyone's credit card and mortgage balances. Some at least is taxpayer money anyway. The White House has failed in creating jobs for the American people. They claim there was small economic growth. That was the result of people dying and retiring from their jobs. The only growth was in the president's propaganda expenses.

Local Job And Income Creation

Another weak job report today. I still believe that the answer lies in local businesses and cultivating local economies. Educate people to use their talents, experience, education, and skills to create their own incomes. If no one wants to hire you, hire yourself. The government should assist not only small businesses, but those who are willing to be self employed, especially those collecting unemployment benefits.

Soap And Sweater Weather

Soap and sweater weather is finally here in Western New York. The harvest season is waning. Apples, grapes, pumpkins, Winter Squash, root vegetables, red beets, late radishes, sweet potatoes are what is left of the harvest. There might be spinach and chard since we have not yet had a frost in this area. It might be the result of climate change or just a warmer and longer Summer season.

I remember as a child growing up in North Tonawanda, the first frost of the Fall season being in September, even the first snow fall. The snow did not amount to much and quickly melted with exposure to any sunlight. A professor I had in college, was also a farmer, told me how the first Autumn frost in WNY use to be in September, but now it is November.

One of the joys of this autumn time, as a little boy, was finding Horse Chestnuts in their green spiked outer shells. The nuts looked to me as if they were made of wood. I collected them like a squirrel, along with acorns, as if they were pieces of treasure.

The smells and colors of this season, of apples, and leaves fill my senses. This is the season for apple cider. Soups are also good when the weather becomes chilly. Butternut Squash is great as a soup or baked. It is also the beginning time for making other hot, hearty soups and chili. It is the time for bringing out warm sweaters and hooded sweat shirts.

Even though it is the end of Summer and the harvest season I feel more productive and motivated this time of year. I love the shorter days, the quieter nights, the cooler crisp tempertures. It is a time for studying, writing intellectual pursuits and turning ones thoughts inward. Enjoy this great time of the year.

Where Are The Electric Cars?

Where Are The Electric Cars?

Watching, what seems at times like hours, the endless stream of automobile commercials on television, I find an absence of electric models. This I find interesting since there are companies that are offering such vehicles. There is the Nissan Leaf, and the Chevy Volt. Ford has an electric Focus that was even featured on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Then there is the Roadster which is a joint product of Toyota and Tesla Motors. These are not hybrids, but completely electric vehicles.

People cannot choose to purchase one of these vehicles if they are not aware they are available. I like to see some marketing.

What Are We Getting For Our Billions?

Today the house voted to spend another 26 billion. They claim it is for teaches and fire fighters. I do not mind spending money on people who protect my home, property and life.

I question the teachers, since with the Unions municipalities are forced to pay high salaries even to lousy teachers. I also do not equate salaries with the quality of the teacher. Either you are a good teacher or you are not.

Boards of Education should be able to chose the teachers they want and pay them what they deserve.

The children are the future of our Nation we cannot afford paying teachers who are not worth it. The only one that benefits is the Teacher's Union.

I believe in teacher testing. We need to get the biggest bang out of our bucks. The Unions do not guarantee quality. The more teachers get paid the more money the Unions make regardless of how the students perform.

As a taxpayer I want the best for my bucks. Each school system should be able to hire the best teachers they can afford whether the teacher belongs to the union or not. Each teacher should be judged on their own merits. Not all teachers are worth the same salary.

Let The People Rule.

I found this quote that pertains to the public's apathy when it comes to government abuse of position. Yes,,you can fight City hall as in Bell California.
"If you think of yourselves as helpless and ineffectual, it is certain that you will create a despotic government to be your master. The wise despot, therefore, maintains among his subjects a popular sense that they are helpless and ineffectual."
Frank Herbert .

Do The People Have To Fix The Economy Ourselves?

As Congress returns from another holiday, they wonder what challenge they might undertake before their next break? I say jobs.If they do want to spend anymore money on unemployment benefit, spending on retraining and creating jobs.

The President wasted time fight for a flawed and unconstitutional healthcare bill, now he was waste more time on immigration reform. I say how about jobs?

We have as a sovereign nation a system of immigration, we just do not enforce it. It is like having a lock on the door, but you never lock it. All those that cross our border without permission are not only illegals, but invaders.

As for our economy it need to be reconstructed from the 19 century structure that we have been milking for decades. The focus needs to be local businesses, providing for local needs.

We also need to rid of dead wood from CEOs to poor teachers who fail their students. If someone does not perform they are out. We need to stop rewarding incompetence. Especially when it comes to our children who are the future of our country.

We can start by investing in local business that provide local jobs and products. We cannot wait for government to fix anything. We see this in the Gulf disasters with BP and with Katrina.

Relief Well or Easy Well?

BP keeps speaking of the hope of anew relief well. I believe this is what they wanted all along, anew well. They won't need any permission from the government, in fact the government welcome it.What a easy way to be able to drill another well.

Still No "Green" Jobs Here In Buffalo

The president will be here in Buffalo for a photo op. Where are the "Green" jobs? He is avoiding any real change within the economy. he can offer extended unemployment for those willing to be retrained in "green" sustainable technology. Buffalo would be a great place to start a revitalization of old factories to new technologies. Instead woulhe would rather just talk about it.

NYC Bomb Domestic Terrorism

The government is quick to search for foreign connections of the NYC bomb. There are many angry Americans who are not happy with recent government actions or lack of action. The NYC bomb might be domestic. There many unhappy campers here in America. It could be someone angry at the unconstitutional healthcare bill or no immigration reform or the mess on Wall Street.

Still Waiting For Change

On this eve of the great healthcare reform bill disaster, I do not see the healthcare bill as anything more than tyranny. The President has demonized the insurance industry, but ignores the source of healthcare costs which is the greedy medical industry. They are no different than Wall Street.

I think that the American people need to bring on their own change by shutting down Wall Street and the medical industry.

Where is the choice in medical treatment? Where is the science in todays medicine? It is all about power and money, not healing of people.

No Forced Healthcare

I am deeply troubled and angry at how the Democrats are using the same sleezy tactics to force their agenda as the Republicans did during the last administration.

I refuse to be forced into any healthcare plan. It is my constitutional right not to have healthcare, especially with medical system that forces a belief system that I do not share.

It is like forcing Americans to belong to a church. Our medical system is corrupt and tainted by greed, arrogance and ignorance. I refuse to be forced into a health system that is flawed and failed. Congress is going too far by using unconstitutional political arm twisting.

I call for a march on Washington to protest and stop this tyranny, even if we have to shut down the government. On the way down the people should stop on Wall Street and shut that down, including the Stock Exchange. No more taxpayer money for failed companies. In fact we want our money back.

Where Are The Green Jobs? March On Washington.

The unemployment rate still hovers around 10%. Higher in some places. I ask where are the Green jobs the president promised. If we did change to a Green Economy there would be be plenty of jobs. Of course there are too many greedy people who profit from the "old" system and do not want to change the economy.

I think Washington needs to understand the many that are without work or are underemployed. Visuals speak louder than even statistics. I suggest there should be a Drive for Jobs to Washington. A March on Washington for jobs, to let the government see in real bodies how many people need work, or better work.

The march or drive could begin on the west coast. Another branch could begin down South. We would all converge on Washington on a set date. If people had jobs they would not have time to march on Washington.

When we are all gathered we could ask President Obama, "Where Are the Jobs?" If we had jobs we would not need the healthcare bill.President Obama is wasting time on healthcare reform which will do little for anyone. The focus needs to be on creating new jobs.

Providing Needs, Creates Jobs

I find this culture strange in the sense that people are expected to work at jobs that do not directly provide any of our human needs. Sitting behind a desk or doing other mindless work does put food on the table. It gives pieces of paper to be exchanged for our basic needs. Why not provide for our needs directly? Work producing food, clothing, shelter not doing meaningless tasks.

Electric Cars Are Comming

I am pleased to find that there are several electric car designs being considered for marketing. The Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf will be out in 2011. If all the automakers were to market at least one electric car then it would gain more popularity.

I am still a believer in reducing the need for car transportation by using better urban designs and public transportation. This comes under the philosophy of "being places, instead of going places."
